ABOUT

I’m Clare — a writer and brand storyteller based in Portland, Oregon.

Over the past several years, I’ve worked as a copywriter and brand storyteller, helping businesses (like your favorite bagel shop down the block to the DTC brand that makes your boujie shampoo) translate what they actually mean and care about into language people can feel in their bones (slightly dramatic, sue me).

Before that, I was the director of a nonprofit specializing in gleaning — an upcycling practice that rescues edible food from our waste stream and redistributes it to families in need. At the same time, I ran a tiny bread bakery out of my mother’s kitchen, which is a long way of saying I’ve always been drawn to projects that bring people together.

Outside of work, I’m a fair-weather tennis player, love nothing more than roasting a whole chicken for friends, and spend as much time as possible outside—ideally in a body of water.
